Meet Israel Portnoy

Israel Portnoy is a soulful singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer with a gift for weaving raw emotion into every note. Originally from the UK, he set out at just 16 to build a life in the land of his namesake—Israel. His journey recently led him to New York City, where he continues crafting his art, blending old roots with new horizons.

After several albums and the chance to tour tens of countries as lead singer of The Portnoy Brothers, Israel began carving out a parallel path as a solo artist. In 2020, he released his deeply personal debut solo album, Facing Flames (feat. Guilda)—a concept project born from ashes, both literal and symbolic. The album marked the anniversary of a devastating forest fire that destroyed his home in Mevo Modiin, along with cherished instruments, notebooks, and years of recordings. While Israel remains an active and integral part of The Portnoy Brothers, the fire marked a turning point—igniting a solo journey rooted in urgency, vulnerability, and spiritual searching.

His evolving solo discography includes AURA, a slow-burning album dedicated to his daughter and his unfolding experience of fatherhood, and the intimate Poetry & Prayer Project. In 2025, he released House of Prayer, a collaboration with TYH Nation that surpassed one million cross-platform streams within its first month. His next solo album, Shalom, is scheduled for release in Decmeber 2025.

Israel’s original music has been featured in Jewish Journal, Authority Magazine, and OK! Magazine amongst other, reflecting his ability to touch hearts across diverse audiences. He has shared stages and collaborated with artists including Idan Raichel, Alex Clare, Ivri Lider, Zusha, Moshav Band and Cardboard Foxes. Whether performing with his brother or as a solo artist, Israel’s music feels like a warm conversation—rooted in storytelling, spirituality, and a deep love for life’s quiet, sacred moments.
